  • Tough Stains: Use YDL Stone Cleaner or a specialized product like Stonefoam (available here) or The Pink Stuff paste version (available at Chemist Warehouse or Bunnings Warehouse).
  • Avoid bleach, abrasives, or prolonged rubbing.

Food Preparation

YDL Natural Stone – General Care Guidelines

Daily Cleaning

  • Wipe with a soft cloth, sponge, or microfiber using warm water and a pH-neutral cleaner or mild dish soap.

  • Rinse thoroughly and dry to prevent streaks or water marks.

What to Avoid

  • Abrasive powders, creams, or scouring pads

  • Acidic or alkaline cleaners (vinegar, lemon, bleach, ammonia)

  • Harsh chemicals or solvent-based products

  • Leaving spills unattended

Spill Management

  • Clean spills immediately to reduce staining risk

  • Blot rather than wipe to avoid spreading

  • Take extra care with oils, wine, coffee, citrus, and coloured liquids

Stone Care Essentials (Recommended)

  • Always use coasters under glasses, especially wine, spirits, citrus, and soft drinks

  • Use chopping boards for food prep

  • Place heat mats or trivets under hot cookware

  • Avoid heavy impacts or dropping objects on stone surfaces

  • Do not sit, stand, or climb on benchtops

Natural stone is porous and benefits from sealing; benchtops usually need sealing more often than walls, and water droplets can be used to check the seal. Consult your stonemason or stone care professional for suitable sealing products and schedules for your stone.
