Quartzite has become one of the most popular natural stones for Australian homes, and our quartzite collection at YDL Stone shows why. From the warm desert tones of Apache to the soft elegance of Taj Mahal, these stones combine the refined look many people love with the strength needed for everyday living.
In this article we briefly explain what quartzite is and why it differs from engineered quartz, then take you through every piece currently available in our quartzite range. Whether you are planning a new kitchen, bathroom or feature wall, there is something here to suit a wide range of styles and preferences.
What is Quartzite?
Quartzite begins as sand. Over millions of years the grains are buried, compressed and transformed by heat and pressure into a dense network of interlocking quartz crystals. The result is one of nature’s hardest-wearing and most durable stones. On top of this durability, when properly sealed, quartzite offers excellent stain resistance whilst retaining a beautiful natural appearance.
Natural Quartzite vs Man-Made Quartz
Although the names sound similar, the materials are quite different. Quartzite is a natural metamorphic stone formed deep in the earth. Engineered quartz is a manufactured product made from ground quartz mixed with resins and polymers. This means that, depending on resin content, colour, and level of exposure, engineered quartz can be less resistant to heat and UV light and can fade or yellow over time. Natural quartzite, along with much of our natural stone range, remains quite UV stable and holds its colour and finish for many years with the right care.
YDL Stone’s Quartzite Collection
Over the years, we at YDL Stone have built a wide array of natural quartzite variants from quarries across the globe. This is only possible thanks to the connections we’ve made with some of the top quarries and stonemasons in the world, and we are always looking to add new and unique variants to our collection.
Whilst quartzite is often associated with Brazil, due to its role as a top exporter of beautiful, durable stone, we also offer selections from a variety of other origins, including Canadian stone, as well as stone from India, despite the country’s fantastic reputation as primarily a granite explorer. However, we feel that seeing the stone really speaks for itself, so without further preamble, below is YDL Stone’s full quartzite collection at time of writing (August 2026):

Choosing the Right Quartzite
With such a wide range of colours and patterns available, the best choice depends on the mood you want to create and how the surface will be used. Lighter pieces such as Mont Blanc, Taj Mahal or Naica work well in bright, open kitchens. Warmer or more patterned options like Apache, Picasso or Pink Patagonia add richness and character. Darker stones such as Black Vermont or Negresco create strong contrast and drama.
Proper sealing and regular care will help any quartzite perform at its best for many years. Our team is always happy to discuss the right finish and maintenance approach for your project.
